I made this centerpiece for the table out of black, red and pink silk flowers. I spray painted the bright colors with black to bring down the vibrancy. I had a cheap clear glass vase and used a hot glue gun to make abstract texture and patterns all over. Spray painted that in a matte finish. Above the breakfast nook, I created a garland of creepy baby doll heads. I found hi-res images online, printed them off at Kinko’s, spray mounted to heavy cardstock, cut out the heads & eyes. I used miniature close pin clips to hang them on black satin ribbon. I’ll be switching out the lighting to green light bulbs, hanging some tattered cheese cloth on the windows and make dirt cups with baby doll arms coming out from the center. Instead of having about 27 candles in the non-working fireplace, I put fake body parts and bones where the firewood would have gone. The candles always look great, but wanted to experiment with colored lights this year for a creepy effect. I have a blacklight in the far back of the fireplace, several strings of purple lights and 2 uplight lamps with red bulbs facing towards the opening of the hearth. I also have orange lightbulbs in the table lamps either side of the fireplace. Photos can’t even do this justice.
